At our Agricultural Research Station in Berge, we regularly welcome young people who want to gain practical experience in agricultural research.

Today, we are pleased to introduce Miriam Miftah from Italy. Miriam is 21 years old and is currently completing an Erasmus internship at IASP. She studies Quality and Procurement of Raw Materials for the Agri-Food Industry at the University of Parma.

In Berge, Miriam follows the entire production cycle of agricultural raw materials — from seed to harvest. This gives her the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience and a deeper understanding of agricultural production processes.

She is currently working on an experiment with a special fertilizer that focuses on reusing by-products derived from raw materials. The aim is to give value to materials that would otherwise be discarded — an important contribution to sustainability and circular production.

For Miriam, the most valuable part of her experience is the opportunity to challenge herself, learn new things, and grow both personally and professionally.

Her message to other young people:

“If you ever have the opportunity to take part in an Erasmus program, do not hesitate to seize it. Stepping out of your comfort zone may seem difficult at first, but it is an incredibly rewarding experience.”
